In Vitro Fertility Goddess
The following are just some of the many kind notes I've received from readers of In Vitro Fertility Goddess.
Thank you all so much! xxx Jodi
.
Can I just say that the book was hilarious - I literally could not put it down. I loved the funny and sarcastic take on those who are not fertility challenged and appreciated that the book gave me a chance to have a good old fashioned belly laugh about such a sensitive subject. Great therapy for anyone who is feeling a little sorry for themselves and needs to feel normal again!! I literally feel like I have ‘snapped out' of my self pity and learnt to get on with it!

I think Jodi has done a wonderful job to capture the frustrations and irrational thoughts that you have while struggling to conceive - and makes you laugh at yourself, and realize that you are not as crazy as you think you are, and its ok to think horrible things about ‘smug pregnants' hahahahaha. I am surrounded by them, everyone is in a baby boom but us, so I immediately felt understood when I read Jodi's book.

I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed your book. I have just finished reading it while recovering from my laparoscopy…fantastic! Giving me lots of hope! Thank you.

Most online pregnancy books seem to cater for the younger majority of the fertility unchallenged while those of us less fortunate are simply ignored. Thank you for filling the gap with such pizzazz.

I work in family law and many of my clients are the sort of people who name their children Harley Davidson. I opened your book in the bookshop at page 76 and started reading. I was stunned - you were talking about my life! We're about to start our first IVF stim cycle after two years of infertility and everything in your book speaks to me. We've tried herbs, natural therapies, yoga, meditation, chinese medicine, acupuncture…and yet everyone around me smokes, drinks and gets pregnant. Oh, and the latest advice I've received about getting pregnant is that I should sit in a certain chair in the Office - everyone else who has sat there has fallen pregnant. If only it were so simple.
Thank you so much. I'm reclaiming my sanity as I laugh and cry through your book.

What a great book 'In Vitro Fertility Goddess' is. I'M LOVIN IT!
Husband and I are going through second cycle of IVF and when told of your book I thought of nothing worse than having a laugh at this situation, but I was wrong. You are right in everything you say in the book and it is humorous the way it is written. It has made me feel a little better in that I am not the only person going through it as I know NO ONE going through the same thing.
I will definitely recommend your book to anyone going through this (when people actually start to talk about it) as it is not a shamefull thing. I think I am actually going to get my pregnant friends to read it as they don't understand what I'm going through and hopefully they will have a better idea.

I love the way you described the feelings of ups and downs when TTC. Thank you for writing a wonderful book on the issue that has been a huge part of my life for the past 2 years.

Given the overall high percentage of pregnancies ending in miscarriage, it is staggering that so few women are prepared to talk about it. Yes, having a failed pregnancy must be the female equivalent to impotence. My hat to you for giving such an honest, heart felt and witty account of something so intimate.

Love the book and the website forums. They are keeping me sane as I go through my first IVF cycle. I seem more angry than most and try to work on this everyday but it regularly rears it's ugly head!

I bought In Vitro Fertility Goddess and read it in one day…fantastic. Thank you for a fantastic read. It certainly made me feel more normal in regards to my horrific thoughts about the fertile!

Thank you so much for writing your book. It's opened my eyes so much to what some women have to go through, and what I could be facing, but it was great to be able to laugh throughout your story (and cry in some bits too). Fertility doc told us on our first visit that we had to jump straight to IVF - kind of a shock. And yes, makes me frustrated, sad and angrier every day when women around me get pregnant at the drop of a hat - especially when I come from the most fertile family of women! Even though I've just turned 39, we've postponed starting IVF for a few months to try harder with the natural approach with all the right assistance from naturopaths, acupuncture etc plus to give me a chance to settle back into work after a 6 week break due to anxiety and depression. Feeling much better now though.
Thanks again for a great book - you're an inspiration.

So many women hide their mishaps to earn the prized title of ‘Fertility Goddesses' as you so rightly put it . When I tried to share with a close friend that I had gone through heavy bleeding while pregnant (brownish red discharge at 6 weeks), she actually looked at me as if I was an alien. Probably because this was my first pregnancy and that she already had 3 children, all born without any mishaps. There's certainly no sisterhood when it comes to fertility.

I'm a 37 year old female. Infertility problems have dominated my life for the past four years. I must have tried all the infertility treatments for females around to no avail. As a result, nothing or nobody has been able to cheer me up. That was until I read your book. Thank you so much!

I was convinced that all those herbs that help to conceive early are really a dime a dozen. But since I got my hand on Ruth Sharkey's magic formula, I can add my name to yours and to her long list of success stories. Oh and great book by the way…

I never thought that among the many positions to conceive a baby, the handstand would feature so prominently. A new position for the kama sutra perhaps?

I was searching for tips and advice while on Clomid and somehow came across your book. Hunter S. Thompson has found his (female) match!

…my advice to those in the their late 30s trying to work out what the average time to concieve might be is to start by ignoring what they read in all those women magazines and their endless conga line of older celebrities who effortlessly pop out children on cue despite the odds. It was about time somebody pointed that out.

I just wanted to say I 'L O V E D' your book with a capital L. I myself have had 3 miscarriages this year and I am at it again for the fourth time this year. I don't know what I would of done if I hadn't of read this book because in a way it has saved me and slowed down the tears. No-one around me really and truly understood my pain but when I read the book I knew someone did - at last! You've got no idea how truly grateful I am Jodi to read your most deepest feelings about the horrendous memory or memories of miscarriage.
Thank you just doesn't seem to cut it but it's all I can say.
